GHCA 2020 Terry Campbell Shoot for the Troops flyer
Terry Campbell Shoot for the Troops Info, as provided by member Bryan Campbell:

The Terry Campbell Annual Shoot for the Troops was the creation of Terry Campbell and Russ Skaggs. As founding members of Golden High Country Archers, Terry and Russ poured thousands of hours into the day to day operations of the club, from maintenance and landscaping to serving as board members and range captains. Terry and Russ had Sons serving oversees in Iraq.

Golden High Country Archers decided to host the first Annual Shoot for the Troops in the summer of 2003, to show support for and give back to those brave servicemen and women serving overseas. The shoot was a success and enough funds were raised that first year to purchase and ship care packages to our troops serving oversees. None of this would have been possible, then or now, without the club’s partnership with the Coors Veterans Group, and the generous donations from the local community.

The Shoot for the Troops was near and dear to Terry’s heart, so it was no surprise that in 2006 Terry didn’t allow chemo and radiation treatments to sideline him from that year’s shoot.  Unfortunately, in April of 2007 we lost Terry after a brave fight with cancer. Soon after Terry’s passing the GHCA’s board members unanimously agreed to rename the event “The Annual Terry Campbell Shoot for the Troops”in his memory and in dedication to Terry’s devotion to the club.

It was the dedication and hard work of men like Terry and Russ as well as many other founding members, that formed the foundation of the club, paving the way for the future of Golden High Country Archers.
